The questions we get asked about Subby.

The product questions people email us, including the ones we would rather not get. General subscription how-tos live in the guides.

Does Subby find my subscriptions automatically?

No. Subby doesn’t read your bank. You add subscriptions yourself, about twenty seconds each, picking from 600+ brands or snapping a screenshot that PRO reads for the price, cycle and date. In exchange you can track subscriptions without a bank login, with no account to create and no bank connection to re-link. Anything you forget to add, Subby never hears about.

What’s free, and what’s PRO?

Subby is free to use and tracks everything, with no limits and no account. Reminders, the payments log, 600+ brand logos and 46 currencies are all in the free version, alongside the ads that pay for it. So is Insights, with its four sections: Overview, Trends, Services and Signals. PRO is one payment and adds five things: screenshot import, cloud auto-backup, the home-screen widget, icon requests, and ads gone. The PRO page goes through each one.

Is Insights free?

Yes, all of it. Overview, Trends, Services and Signals are in the free app, which shows ads, and none of them needs PRO. Insights builds every number from the subscriptions you add and the payments you mark paid, never from your bank. The Insights page walks through each section with screens from the app.

Why is there a paid tier at all?

The free app costs us to build and run, and the ads cover that. PRO is the other way to pay for it. One payment adds screenshot import, backup, the widget and icon requests, and takes the ads out. We have no investors and we don’t sell data, so PRO purchases fund the next feature.

Will my reminders arrive?

On old 1.8.x versions some people hit broken notifications, and it’s the biggest complaint in our legacy reviews. We rebuilt the reminder engine in the 2026 rewrite because of it. Reminders now re-check on every app open, every few hours in the background, and after reboots, updates and time changes. An unpaid payment keeps reminding you for up to a week, and on iPhone Subby schedules them 35 days ahead.

Can I track a free trial in Subby?

Yes. Switch on This is a free trial when you add it, set the day it ends and enter the price it becomes. Subby leaves the trial out of your monthly total until it converts, and a reminder arrives before the first charge. A week before the end, a card on Home shows what the trial will cost and what cancelling first saves in a year.

Can I budget by payday instead of by calendar month?

Yes. In Settings, set Month starts on to the day you get paid and add a Monthly budget. Home then counts your pay period, and the Overview in Insights shows what renews before the money lands and how much of the budget is left. If those renewals run past the budget, it names the one cancellation that would clear it, or says that no single one does.

Can I export my payment history?

Yes, as a CSV file, and it is part of the free app. Export payments (CSV) in the Overview of Insights writes every payment you have logged to one file, one row per payment at the price you paid. The dates are ISO, so Google Sheets or Excel reads them right whatever language your phone is in.

How do I delete a subscription?

On the Subscriptions tab, long-press a subscription or tap its icon to select it, tap more if you are deleting several, then use Delete in the top bar. You can also open the subscription and delete it from its edit screen. Nothing disappears until you confirm.

Will my data survive a new phone?

Yes. Anyone can save a local backup file and restore from it. PRO also backs up automatically to your own iCloud or Google Drive, daily, weekly or monthly, and keeps the last three. Weekly is the default. Restore on any phone, Android or iOS, from the same Google Drive account. The PRO unlock itself stays with the store you bought it from.

How often does Subby back up?

As often as you choose. With PRO, Subby backs up on its own to your iCloud or Google Drive, daily, weekly or monthly, and keeps the last three backups. Weekly is the default. Without PRO you can still save a backup file by hand and restore from it. Cloud backup is one of the five things PRO adds.

How do I restore my PRO purchase?

Tap Settings → Restore purchases. Subby asks Google Play or the App Store what you already own there, so sign in with the same Google or Apple account you bought PRO with.

If I buy PRO on Android, do I have it on iPhone?

No. Each store only knows its own purchases, so the PRO unlock stays where you bought it, Google Play or the App Store. Your list is the part that moves between iPhone and Android, in your own cloud backup.

Is it on iPhone?

Yes. Subby is on the App Store and on Google Play, one app on both.

Does Subby work on iPhone Duo?

Yes, on both screens. Open it wide and Home splits across the two panels, your total on one side and the next payments on the other, while Insights spreads its charts over the whole display. Closed, the outer panel shows a compact Home you can use one handed, and folding or unfolding keeps your place. It is the same Subby from the App Store, with the same list and the same PRO. Subby on iPhone Duo goes through it pose by pose.

Can I use Subby in my language?

Subby follows your phone’s language when it has a translation for it, and App language lets you run Subby in another one, whatever the phone is set to. You can pick it while you set Subby up or later in Settings.

Does the free app show ads?

Yes, and that is how the free version earns its keep. In the EEA and UK, Subby asks before it personalizes the ads, and you can change your answer any time in the app. Buying PRO once removes them for good.

Where does my data live?

On your device. There is no account and no server-side copy of your subscription list, and backups go to your own iCloud or Google Drive. One thing does leave the phone, and only if you use PRO’s screenshot import. The screenshot you pick goes to Subby, an AI service reads it, and it isn’t stored after processing. Full detail is in the privacy policy.

Is there a web or desktop app?

There isn’t one. Subby is Android and iOS only. Your data stays on your phone rather than on a server, so there’s nothing to log into from a browser. The nearest thing is the home-screen widget (PRO), which shows the next payments without opening Subby.

Can Subby cancel subscriptions for me?

No. Subby keeps the list and reminds you before the charge lands, but the cancelling is yours to do at the provider. Our cancel guides walk through the big ones step by step, from official sources.

Can I add a one-time payment?

No. Subby tracks recurring payments on any cycle from weekly to every three years, including custom ones. A one-time expense isn’t what it’s built for.

What’s the story with the Play Store rating?

Our lifetime Play average is 3.8 stars since December 2017, including a period when reminders broke on old versions. 2.0.0 (August 2026) was a full rewrite with a new reminder engine and a new design, and the current version is 2.1.0. Judge it on the 2026 reviews.
